Spare a thought for Singapore Airlines - for years they have been trying to get slots to fly the lucrative east-Australia to west-USA route....now it looks like Virgin Blue's V Australia airlines will be flying the route from late 2008 - subject to USA regulatory approval. The name V Australia Airlines comes from a competition which included entries like "Randy Roo airlines", "Choo Choo Flying Big Blue" and "Didgeree Blue" (my personal favourite).
