So the IFP ousted the ANC in KZN and the DA won City of Cape Town. This is healthy for the South Africa's democracy. Complete domination by a single party reduces the checks and balances on that party - indeed, it induces an environment where the ruling party does not feel the need to even let the electorate know which mayors they would be voting for.
More locally, the DA won the Swartland and ward 4 (in which
Yzerfontein is situated); as well as
Melkbos.
It's a pity the DA winning these municipalities wont result in a change in electricity supply policy (Eskom is controlled by National Government) - as highlighted by the troubles at
Koeberg Nuclear Power Station we need improvement there - the lack of a continuous electricity supply in Cape Town is the single biggest factor which is going to slow economic growth in Cape Town over the next 7 years.
