Pearly Valley is a Jack Nicholson designed golf course in between Paarl and Franschhoek, Cape Town. While it is a challenging course to play, any pain on the golfing front is numbed by the backdrops of the beautiful Drakenstein Mountain range.
Be aware though, that in summer it can get really hot, as the Paarl valley does not have the same cool south-easterly winds blowing through it, which the rest of Cape Town enjoys. The course is in a country estate setting, with houses obviously built for the exceptionally wealthy, to enjoy the views of the course in a country atmosphere.
Pearl Valley is about a 45 minute drive from Cape Town's city centre, mostly along the N1 National Road, which is why it's so quick to cover the 67km distance.

After your round of golf head off to Franschhoek, so named because of the French Huguenots who settled in South Africa many years back. The town is known as being home to some of the best restaurants for fine dining in South Africa. There are a number of good spots to stay in Franschhoek, so another option is to spend the night there, which allows you to avoid having to drive in from the city.
